Angry Birds’ budget only takes USD 140 thousand for its development, but now the game is able to earn profit around USD 70 million. It’s worthy enough for observer to call Angry Birds as the most profitable game throughout history.
The game is first developed by Rovio for iOS in December 2009, yet very phenomenal for its uniqueness after released in Android version and other platform.
Compare to others which earns millions of dollars, Angry Birds is the game with biggest income recalls its minor production’s budget.
“USD 140 thousand is a little amount of money for production fee and promotion compare with its expensive treatment. However, Angry Birds becomes the most profitable game throughout history,” said Jesse Divnich Vice President of Analyst Services, Electronic Entertainment Design and Research (EEDAR).
There’s another game with similar achievement, such as Tetris. Actually it’s only leisurely project with minimum budget. Still, it’s already more than 20 years but Tetris still obtain some profits.
“Both is a simple game, then becomes top hits and most profitable in game industry,” said Divnich, quoted from Industry Gamer, Friday (11/3/2011).
